The Fox and Hounds, South Godstone

The Fox and Hounds is a lovely old pub - parts of the building date back to the 12th Century, and it has been a pub since 1601. It is where the pirate/smuggler John Trenchman died after being pursued by the King's men - the pub contains one of his gaiters, and the legend is that if it is ever removed from the premesis, John will be back to haunt the establishment. Nice garden to the rear. Dogs allowed in the pub in all but the restaurant area. Often has interesting local guest beers.
