By road: From Westerham. Drive east along the A25. After the traffic lights at the motorway junction, turn right onto the A21 (Sevenoaks by-pass) and drive south. Leave at the first exit and take the second exit from the roundabout, the B245 (signposted Hildenborough). After a half mile, turn left into Bank Lane. After nearly a mile, where the left turn goes to Underriver, continue ahead onto MillLane. After a further half mile, turn left onto Underriver House Road. Take the first right into Hildenborough Road and follow this for just over one and a half miles, to turn right onto the A227. In just under 1½ miles, on a sharp right-hand bend, turn left and then immediately left again, into Puttenden Road. After a half mile, turn left to the car park (free).
Alternative route by road from Westerham. Follow the A25 east from Sevenoaks and through Seal. When you reach a left hand bend on a dual carriageway just over a mile from Seal, turn right onto Coach Road. Follow this to Ivy Hatch. At the fork to Ightham Mote, take the left fork and continue to a T-junction. Turn right onto the A227 and drive through Shipbourne. Just over 1½ miles after The Chaser inn, on a sharp right hand bend, turn left and immediately left again, into Puttenden Road. After a halk mile, turn left to the car park (free).
