A farmer is allowed to plough over a Right of Way across a field, but he must reinstate the path within a reasonable time so that people can use it. Sometime he will do this by running a tractor along the line of the path and leaving the passage of walkers to clear it and sometimes he will clear the crop himself. He is not allowed to plough a path round the edge of a field (a headland path).
