The Definitive Rights of Way map is accompanied by a Statement describing each path and this may specify the width. If it does not, then the minimum width is:
- 1 metre for a cross-field footpath,
- 1½ metres for a field-edge (headland) footpath,
- 2 metres for a cross-field bridleway, and
- 3 metres for a field-edge bridleway.
