The Definitive Rights of Way map is accompanied by a Statement describing each path and this may specify the width.  If it does not, then the minimum width is:

  • 1 metre for a cross-field footpath,
  • 1½ metres for a field-edge (headland) footpath,
  • 2 metres for a cross-field bridleway, and
  • 3 metres for a field-edge bridleway.
